Six employees from Raymond Blanc’s Brasserie Bar Co are preparing to climb Mont Blanc with a pledge to raise £12,000 for the Tim Bacon Foundation and The Christie Hospital.
The team, which is made up of five members of Brasserie Blanc and one from The White Brasserie Company, will take on the 4,808m ascent between 10 and 14 September in memory of former colleague Rob White and restaurateur Tim Bacon, both of whom were treated at The Christie during their battles with cancer.
To train for the big climb, they took on the Cambrian Mountains this summer.
To support the challenge, Brasserie Blanc is serving the Mont Blanc dessert, with £1 of each one sold being donated. There are also a series of charity jazz dinners at Brasserie Blanc St Albans, Oxford and Knutsford on 12, 13 and 19 September respectively, for £30 per person.
The Mont Blanc Challenge is part of an overall fundraising effort by the restaurant group to raise £25,000.
